Product description
WHAT IS OVULATION? As you know, a woman becomes pregnant when her egg cell (ovum) is fertilized by a sperm cell. Ovulation is a natural process that occurs every month. During this period, the level of a special ovulation hormone, known as Luteinizing Hormone (LH), increases, and its increase can be detected in the urine. This increase in LH triggers ovulation, i.e. the release of an egg from the ovary, usually in the middle of the monthly menstrual cycle.
LH levels (LH surge) increase approximately 24 hours before ovulation. The test detects this LH surge and thus allows you to determine when you are ovulating.
The time period during which you can get pregnant is short because the egg only survives for a short time after it is released from the ovary (around 24 hours), and sperm cells are only able to survive for a few days.
RELIABILITY When performed according to the instructions in this package insert, the reliability of detecting the LH surge in a urine sample is high. Comparative tests conducted in medical laboratories have demonstrated 99% accuracy of the test.
WHEN SHOULD YOU TEST? To determine the day of your LH surge, you will need to test your urine every day, at around the same time of day. For women with regular menstrual cycles, five days of testing is usually sufficient.
To determine which day of your cycle you should start testing, subtract 16 days from your cycle length.
FOR EXAMPLE If your cycle is 28 days long, you should start testing 12 days after the start of your menstrual cycle. See the table below:
WHEN SHOULD YOU HAVE SEX? The greatest chance of getting pregnant is when you have sex on your most fertile days, when you are ovulating.
WHEN ARE THE TWO MOST FERTILE DAYS? The two most fertile days start on the day you see your LH surge and continue for about two days after that. HOW DO YOU MEASURE THE LENGTH OF YOUR MONTHLY CYCLE? Count the number of days from the first day of your period to the first day of your next period. Most women have a regular menstrual cycle, usually lasting 28 days.
WHAT TO DO IF YOUR MONTHLY CYCLE IS NOT REGULAR? If you do not have a regular menstrual cycle, choose the shortest cycle in the last three months and test according to that cycle. In this case, you may need to take more than 5 ovulation tests to find out your two most fertile days.
HOW LONG SHOULD YOU TEST? If you do not see evidence of an LH surge after 5 days of testing, you should continue testing for a few more days until you get a positive result (indicating an LH surge). If you do not see an LH surge after three menstrual cycles, contact your doctor.
