How to Use Tampons
Wash your hands, open the package, and remove one tampon. If you have a Tampax Pearl Compak tampon, carefully pull the inner applicator tube (towards the end of the tampon withdrawal string) until you feel resistance. Sit on the toilet with your legs spread wide or stand with one leg propped up on the toilet. Remember to relax, you can take a few deep breaths. Hold the tampon by the bottom of the outer applicator tube with one hand. Place the rounded end of the tampon near the vaginal opening and point it back towards your spine. The tampon withdrawal string should be unrolled and hanging down freely. Take a few breaths and gently insert the applicator into your vagina, aiming towards your spine. When your fingers touch your body, the applicator is in the correct place. Hold the outer tube of the applicator and use your index finger to push the inner tube into the outer tube until you feel resistance. At this point, the tampon will slide out of the applicator and be placed in your vagina. If you feel any discomfort, it means that the tampon was inserted incorrectly or is inserted too shallowly. Remove it and try inserting a new tampon again.

If the tampon is already in place and you do not feel any discomfort, make sure that the tampon withdrawal string is hanging freely. Then carefully pull out the applicator, wrap it in the tampon wrapper and throw it in the trash. Wash your hands after inserting a tampon. Remember to always remove the previous one before inserting a new one! When it is time to change your tampon, pull the string downwards to remove it. Pull at the same angle you inserted the tampon. You can flush the used tampon down the toilet or wrap it in toilet paper and throw it in the trash.

Always use tampons with the minimum absorbency level needed. Change your tampon every 4-8 hours and never leave it in for more than 8 hours.
